DAR TAH TAH

Dar (meaning a traditional town house) Tah Tah can be found hidden down a narrow street off Rue Rahba Kedima, which leads into the old spice market. Its position is exceptional, being close to the main square of Jemaa El Fna and only yards from the souks, yet remaining a quiet haven in which to retreat from the bustle of the Medina.

It has elements of both Moroccan and French architecture with fine Moroccan wall-décor done by local artisans:
-a pretty courtyard with fountain and glass dome
-a roof terrace with views over the city
-a large well-appointed salon with fireplace

Room 1
Room 2
Room 3
Room 4
Room 5

Dar Tah Tah is very competitively priced with comfortable accommodation comprising five double rooms. Two of the rooms have en-suite WC/shower-rooms. There is a family suite (two bedrooms with the bigger room sleeping three people with shower-room with WC, bidet and basin). There is also a downstairs cloakroom with shower. Three bedrooms have air-conditioning/heating. The others have fans/heaters

During your stay you will be looked after by Moroccan staff. Breakfast is included in the price and is served either on the roof terrace, courtyard or balcony. Dinner is available by arrangement (by 11am for dinner the same evening). Simo and staff are most willing to cook for you. There will be a charge of 150 dirham per head for dinner. You can suggest your own menu or it can be left up to them. If you want dinner the night of your arrival, please let us know in advance.

Arrangements can be made to meet you at the airport and lead you to Dar Tah Tah at a cost of 150 dirham for two people. This is advisable as it can be a little difficult to find on your first visit.

Prices are from 400-700 dirham a room for 2 people a night . Tax is included. There will be an added supplement at Christmas, New Year and Easter. Triple/family room and cot available on request.

Trekking in the High Atlas Mountains (day trips or over-night stay) can be arranged with experienced and reliable guides who will organise transfer to and from the house. This can be booked in advance or through Simo when you arrive in Marrakech.

Details for overnight treks and desert excursions can be sent on request.

In order to secure a reservation, we would be grateful for full payment for stays of 3 nights or less and a 50% deposit for stays of 4 nights or more.. We thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation.

Seventies Marrakech lives again.
Review What a find, right in the middle of the sorcerer's souq. Dar Tha Tha is a slice of '70s Marrakesh that has resisted renovation to preserve its mismatched tiles and quirky French colonial interior. Add the laid-back atmosphere and communal kitchen and this is a real home away from home.
It's also an excellent first stop for any solo female travellers, as it brings you to a very safe environment right in the heart of the souq. The house is tiny, with a Lilliputian courtyard set up with table and chairs. The sitting room could do with being a bit more comfortable and colourful, but the friendly, unpretentious atmosphere is worth its weight in gold and each of the four rooms are neat and homely. Room No 3 (with air-con) is the largest, but it's a touch dark due to the high window. If you can, book Room No 4 (with air-con), which has its own shaded terrace and is nice and bright. Simo, who has a cookery diploma, can cook you up a storm.

Rabha Kedima is a great starting point for a walking tour of the souqs and taking in the nearby Criée Berbere (carpet souq), the Souq el-Kebir (big souq), the leather and blacksmith's souq and the Souq el-Attarine.
TRANSPORT DETAILS Take Derb Dabachi (in northeast corner of Djemaa el-Fna). Walk down the derb for 2-3min and take first left into Rue Rahba Qedima. Follow alley for 2-3min, take 1st narrow left at Derb Tah Tah (on wall in black).
